Children’s Ministry Director – Sherry Brewer
Why Children’s Ministry is so important!
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:14-15
Children are a blessing from the Lord. With these blessings also come responsibilities. As stewards of God’s children, parents are responsible for helping children grow physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. Churches have a responsibility toward children, too. We want to provide an environment in which children are safe, are taught at an age-appropriate level, and are encouraged to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
We minister to the spiritual needs of our children through a children’s ministry program. In Matthew 19:13-15, Jesus tells the disciples to leave the children alone after they rebuked them from coming to Him. He tells us that heaven is made up of people with faith like children. We read these passages and can only imagine the love He had for them. Children matter to God and they should matter to us. Research has proven that kids tend to be more receptive to the Gospel than any other age group. Eighty percent of people who receive Christ, do so between the ages of 4 and 14.
Lafayette Pentecostal Church of God is committed to
- teaching children the Word of God in an exciting way to develop their spiritual, moral, emotional and social well being
- enabling children to respond positively to diverse challenges, changes and diversity in life in order to become mature, spirit filled adults
- supporting children to develop character in line with God’s Word and become a positive example among their peers and to their generation
- leading children to an early personal relationship with Christ
At Lafayette Pentecostal Church of God, we are committed to youth. Not only do we recognize them as the church of the future, we recognize that they are the church of today. It is our desire to see them grow into spiritually mature adults that will continue to be a light for the generations that follow.
